VOTER-STRONG FORCE TO NATION

INTRODUCTION:

People often choose not to vote because they feel their vote doesn't count, but one vote does count in many ways. Your choice to vote or not, will have far reaching consequences on people all over the world, many of whom do not have the right to vote themselves. In local and national elections, lawmakers are elected who make laws, policies, and appointments that will have effects for years to come. The most common reason people say they do not vote, one vote doesn't count, but it does. If everyone used an excuse and did not vote, what kind of government would we have?

WHY SHOULD WE VOTE:

Voting in India is a Constitutional right if one is a citizen over 18 years of age. However, that also makes it optional. It has been a tendency among voters, especially in the urban areas, to treat the voting day as a day of rest. While skipping the vote may not seem to cause any harm, the long-term consequences are disastrous.

RIGHT TO VOTE:

We think of the right to vote as one of the most basic elements of a democratic citizenship: both essential and universal. But it wasn’t always like this. In the course of democratic evolution across the world, the right to vote was often withheld by political elites, who saw it as a weapon that could be used to bring about large-scale social reconstruction. For large parts of history, women, racial minorities, and property-less or poor people were routinely denied the vote, on the grounds that they could not be trusted to exercise it responsibly.

VOTER A STRONG FORCE TO NATION:

Voting is a basic process that keeps a nation’s governmental system works. It enables the citizens to choose their own government. It also allows the people to choose their representatives in the government. The purpose of every government is to develop and implement various policies for the benefit of its citizens. It also enables the person with the right to question the government about issues and clarifications. Voting is the way to express the opinion of a citizen in a democratic nation. Voting is crucial to activating the democratic process. On the day of the election, voters won’t just have the capacity to choose their representatives in government for the following term, and they can also decide on measures like security issues that concede the government authority to borrow funds for development projects and different advancements. Also, in some cases, voters cast their voting sheets on social issues.

The responsibility of citizens is voting. The law does not require citizens to vote, but voting is a very important part of any democracy. By voting, citizens are participating in the democratic process. Citizens vote for leaders to represent them and their ideas, and the leaders support the citizens’ interests.

We complain that we don’t have proper roads, no regular supply of water, no development, corruption etc. Rather than complaining if we elect a good candidate who will work for the people then that’s what the true power of common man. Voting is not just our RIGHT, it’s also our DUTY.

Our country is a republic and it's the responsibility of the people to elect the right candidate. A good leader will make sure that the next 5 years will be safe, progressive and pro-development. We should never think that how will it matter if one or two people don’t vote. Our constitution has given a very important power to us to elect the person who can take forward the country on the right path, so we have to use our power intelligently. We should always remember that we (as an individual) should not vote for a person based on caste (thinking that he is of my caste), religion. We should not accept any gifts or monetary benefits from any candidate in exchange for votes. We should check the candidates standing for elections in our constituency and then among them, we have to vote for one candidate.

Please take necessary help from the staff in the voting poll centers as the incorrect process will make your vote invalid.

In 2014, the voting percentage of our country was around 66.5%, which can be improved if we all decide to vote and also create awareness of voting among our friends and family. On the voting day it will be a holiday, but don’t go for outing/movie without voting as one day of enjoyment may cost us and our country. Those people who have migrated to different cities due to different reasons and if they have their vote in their native then they need to plan to visit their native and vote as each and every vote matter for electing the right candidate.

CONCLUSION:

Every voter has to take an oath “My vote is not for sale”. People should exercise their franchise without accepting money and perks. The vote is a strong weapon in the hands of citizens. So, people especially the youth should exercise their voting rights and elect good leaders for a better future and development.
